Prudential was created as The Prudential Friendly Society by life insurance agent John Fairfield Dryden in Newark, New Jersey in 1875. Prudential is unique in that it was the first company in the country to make life insurance available to the working class. Since its inception, Prudential has spent the past 135 years building itself up on the principles of selling life insurance and asset management expertise to all classes.
